The first day of the week and much is happening, to much to tell in a few lines. One thing that is of interest to me today is that people did not recognize Jesus when they were with him. Luke 24 puts it this way: 16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. (KJV, public domain)

How easy is it not to recognize someone you know? A few years ago I noticed a young woman enter a store but did not know who she was until she spoke to me. It was unusual because I knew her very well but for some reason did not recognize her that day.

It takes time to process some events in our minds and that is what happened to these two men. They may have been going home asking themselves “what do we do know.” Their teacher was dead, their hopes were crushed, their purpose was lost.

Jesus met them at their need. He came along side them and asked them what the problem was. He had them put into words what they were going through. From this point Jesus was able to explain the scriptures to them so they could see the messiah. Finally their eyes were opened and they saw Jesus and knew him.

What about you? Are you having trouble understanding your world today? Matthew 7:7 tells us to ask and it will be give you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you. God may be revealing something new to you today.

God bless you this Easter.
